Get the Facts

Lexington County Council’s 2023-2024 budget is $272 million, up from $65 million in 2003-2004.

That's a 315% increase in 20 years, with nothing to help our failing roads.

Traffic

Lexington County Council has known that traffic would be an issue for years. They have not been proactive in creating or implementing any mitigation plans. Even worse, they do not have a plan NOW and have not even discussed making one.

A competent and responsible County Council would have already implemented practical solutions to improve roads and mitigate traffic. This Council has proven they are unable to tackle the issues that impact our daily lives. It's time for new leadership that is ready to tackle the issues that matter, like traffic.

Roads

South Carolina roads are already bad enough, but 70% of our roads in Lexington County roads are estimated to be in "fair" or "poor" condition, or worse, within the next seven years by SCDOT.  While Lexington County's budget has ballooned by more than 300% over the past 20 years, our county elected officials have failed to implement a plan to fix this issue.

The only funding for fixing our roads is the paltry $6 million from the SCDOT gas tax collection. Though the County’s budget has increased by $200+ million since 2004, practically none of this new revenue has been spent alongside the SCDOT allocation to fix our roads and infrastructure. Lexington County residents now pay significantly more in taxes, car repairs, and higher insurance premiums because of the Council's inability to fix our bad roads. It is past time to elect competent leaders who have a plan to fix our crumbling infrastructure.

General Planning

County Council has turned Lexington into a Big Government-run County and has failed to address the issues most important to residents. Their budget has increased by 315% over the past 20 years, yet they have no plan to address our crumbling roads, broken infrastructure, and chronic traffic. We are on track to be a failed county within the next decade if change is not made. It is time to pass on this Council and vote for competent leadership.
